Another Hymn

Here's another hymn that it would be well to know:

1. Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
and with fear and trembling stand;
ponder nothing earthly-minded,
for with blessing in his hand,
Christ our God to earth descendeth,
our full homage to demand.

2. King of kings, yet born of Mary,
as of old on earth he stood,
Lord of lords, in human vesture,
in the body and the blood;
he will give to all the faithful
his own self for heavenly food.

3. Rank on rank the host of heaven
spreads its vanguard on the way,
as the Light of light descendeth
from the realms of endless day,
that the powers of hell may vanish
as the darkness clears away.

4. At his feet the six-winged seraph,
cherubim, with sleepless eye,
veil their faces to the presence,
as with ceaseless voice they cry:
Alleluia, Alleluia,
Alleluia, Lord Most High!

Considering the season, you may like to omit the last verse until Easter time.

Some Hymns

During lent I like to learn new prayers.  Here's a hymn I really like and would like to learn.  I'm not saying I'll learn it for lent, but I might.  I think I'll post the words to a few good hymns to this site that I'd like to memorize.
Hail Queen of heaven, the ocean star
Guide of the wander here below;
Thrown on life's surge we claim thy care
Save us from peril and from woe.
Mother of Christ, Star of the sea,
Pray for the wander, pray for me

O gentle chaste and spotless maid
We sinners make our prayers through thee;
Remind thy Son that He has paid
The price of our iniquity.
Virgin most pure, Star of the sea,
Pray for the sinner, pray for me.

Sojourners in this vale of tears
To thee, blest advocate, we cry;
Pity our sorrows, calm our fears,
And soothe with hope our misery.
Refuge in grief, Star of the sea,
Pray for the mourner, pray for me.

And while to Him who reigns above
In Godhead One, in Persons Three,
The source of life, of grace, of love,
Homage we pay on bended knee:
Do thou, bright Queen, Star of the Sea,
Pray for thy children, pray for me.
